Literature Festival

Celebrating Young Voices & Imagination

About Program

At Saugaat Montessori School, we believe that language is the foundation of expression, creativity, and communication. To celebrate the literary journey of our students, we host the Annual Literature Festival at the end of every academic session — a vibrant showcase of language-based learning, creativity, and authorship.

This event is not just about reading or writing. It is about discovering voices, nurturing imagination, and empowering expression in both Nepali and English.

What is the Saugaat Literature Festival?

The Saugaat Literature Festival is a year-long celebration filled with:

  • Story writing & book-making
  • Poem writing & recital
  • Author studies & interactive sessions
  • Dramatic storytelling, puppet shows, and reading corners
  • Book unveiling ceremonies led by our young authors

Held near the end of the academic session, the festival is an open platform where parents are invited to observe and celebrate what their children have created through the year.

 Key Highlights

 Writer’s Workshop (Primary Students)

Our primary students take part in a structured Writer’s Workshop, where they:

  • Create their own stories and picture books in both Nepali and English
  • Learn the process of being an author — from brainstorming to editing to publishing
  • Illustrate and bind their storybooks
  • Unveil their books at our “Coffee House”, presenting them proudly to parents and teachers — like real authors!

Poetry Writing & Performance

Children explore poetry by:

  • Writing original rhyming and free-verse poems
  • Performing in Poetry Reading sessions, enhancing their confidence and voice
  • Learning to express emotions and ideas creatively and clearly

Author Study & Guest Interaction

As part of their literary exploration, students:

  • Study the works of well-known children’s authors
  • Invite a guest author to school to learn about their writing journey
  • Engage in Q&A sessions, gaining real insight into storytelling and publishing

 Creative Literature Activities

  • Story enactments, puppet shows, group storytelling
  • Role plays and dramatic readings
  • Language games and vocabulary challenges
These activities make literature fun, active, and memorable.

Why Literature Festival is Important

Literature is not just about reading and writing. It is about:

  • Thinking critically, imagining new worlds, and expressing one’s thoughts
  • Developing empathy through stories that open hearts and minds
  • Learning to listen, share, and respond — building communication skills
  • Celebrating bilingualism and the power of words in both Nepali and English
  • Encouraging confidence to speak, present, and publish original work

By engaging in daily literature-based activities throughout the year and culminating it in the festival, students experience the joy of being readers, writers, and thinkers — not just learners.

 Parent Participation

During the festival:

  • Parents are invited to witness their child’s growth in literacy
  • Enjoy interactive story sessions, book displays, and student presentations
  • Encourage and support their children as young authors and poets

This makes literature come alive not just for students, but for families too.

Our Vision

At Saugaat Montessori School, we don’t just teach reading and writing —
We inspire voices,
We celebrate imagination,
And we help children become storytellers of their own lives.

The Literature Festival is one of the most cherished events of our academic year — a festival that turns readers into writers, and children into confident creators.
